Dear River Ridge School District Resident,
On Tuesday, November 8th, district voters authorized up to $9.5 million for additions/remodeling to create one Pre K-12 grade campus at the Patch Grove site. Since November 8, the River Ridge School Board and Administration have been working to lay the groundwork for the new construction and remodeling.
On December 14, the Board approved a modified concept drawing for the addition/remodel. The modified design was developed by the district’s architects, FEH Design. It is based on geotechnical information, site survey information, and interviews and surveys with staff. Features of the design include:
- 8 new classrooms
- Everything on one level; no need for an elevator
- A dedicated middle school wing
- Separate classrooms for band and choir
- Library space remodeled to accommodate the 5th and 6th grade additions.
- Storage within the new classrooms and in the two rooms above the high school stage
- Kraemer Brothers will update mechanical systems throughout the building
A budget for the project is now being developed by Kraemer Brothers, the district’s contractor. The budget includes construction, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and wiring for technology. The budget will be presented to the Board at its January, 2017 meeting, along with any recommendations for modification of the plan design. Bids for the design will be opened on February 8, 2017.
Meanwhile, site prep work is already underway. A temporary access road will be built by Kraemer Brothers to access the new construction area. Construction is slated to begin late February/early March. The goal is to have pre K -12 at one campus when we return to school in September, 2017!
